The part everyone assumes will be easy
Buying the license is five minutes. Configuring it so it protects properly without breaking your accounting software, your VPN or your build pipeline is the actual work. That is what our specialists do, one-to-one, until every device reports healthy.
Why configuration matters more than the product choice
Ask any security practitioner which matters more — the product or the policy — and you will get the same answer. A well-configured mid-tier product outperforms a flagship left on defaults. Defaults are written to work everywhere, which means they exclude nothing, block little, and tell nobody.
Our specialists have configured thousands of deployments across mixed estates. They know which settings change behaviour, which are cosmetic, and which exclusions prevent the support calls you would otherwise make in week two.
The six stages of a guided deployment
-
Confirm your environment
We record device count, operating systems, existing security products that need removing first, and the business applications that must keep working.
-
Schedule the session
You pick a time. Single-device sessions run 15–25 minutes; business rollouts are broken into scheduled windows so nothing disrupts the working day.
-
Activate the license
Your specialist enters the key with you, confirms the account and term dates in the management console, and verifies the seat allocation matches your order.
-
Configure the policy
Scanning schedule, exclusions, network profiles, media controls and alert routing are set to your requirements — not left on defaults.
-
Deploy to your devices
Interactively for small teams, or prepared as installer packages and command-line switches for your existing deployment tooling.
-
Verify and document
Every device is checked in the console until it reports as protected. You receive a written record of what was configured and why.
What we configure, in detail
| Area | What gets set |
|---|---|
| Scanning | Real-time protection level, scheduled full-scan window, quick-scan frequency, archive and email-store handling |
| Exclusions | Trusted paths, processes, extensions and network locations — each documented with a reason |
| Network | Firewall profiles for office/home/public, per-application rules, inbound deny-by-default, inspection scope |
| Devices & media | USB and peripheral policy, Bluetooth and wireless device rules, exceptions for named hardware |
| Web & email | Category filters, malicious-URL blocking, download inspection, encrypted-connection handling |
| Management | Device groups, policy inheritance, administrator roles, agent update channel and bandwidth limits |
| Alerting | Event severity thresholds, notification mailbox, escalation contact, report schedule |
Before your session, have these ready
-
A device inventory Rough counts by operating system are enough. Precision helps us price accurately, not perfectly.
-
A list of critical applications Anything that would cause a serious problem if it stopped working — accounting, ERP, CAD, build tools, medical systems.
-
Details of existing security software So we can plan removal and avoid two engines running at once.
-
An administrator for the session Someone who can approve changes and answer questions about your environment.
What setup assistance is not
We configure protection products we supply. We do not perform remote repair of unrelated software problems, and we do not ask for credentials we do not need. If something falls outside scope, we say so up front and point you to the right resource.
Also useful: our Uninstall Guide explains how to cleanly remove protection software — the step that must happen before most new deployments.
Setup assistance, answered plainly
How sessions work, what to prepare, and what happens afterwards.
What does setup assistance include?
Activation of your license, configuration of the protection policy, enrolment into the management console, deployment to your devices, verification that each one reports as protected, and written documentation of what was changed. It is included with every purchase rather than sold as an add-on.
How is the session delivered?
By scheduled phone call, with screen sharing where it helps. For business rollouts we can work alongside your IT lead, prepare deployment packages for your existing tooling, or handle the whole rollout ourselves on an agreed schedule.
Do I need to remove my current security software first?
Usually yes. Running two real-time protection engines at once causes conflicts, performance problems and unreliable results. We identify what needs removing, use the appropriate removal procedure for each product, and confirm a clean state before installing the new agent.
How long does a business rollout take?
It depends on device count and how much existing software needs clearing. As a rough guide: up to 25 devices in a single session, 25–150 devices across two to four scheduled windows, and larger estates phased over a couple of weeks with a pilot group first. You get a written timeline during the quote call.
Will you configure around our existing tools?
That is the point of doing it with a person rather than a wizard. We review your line-of-business applications, development environments, backup agents, remote-access tools and legacy systems, then build the exclusions and application rules before deployment.
What if something goes wrong after handover?
Contact your assigned specialist. Every deployment includes 30 days of post-handover assistance for configuration questions, blocking events and policy adjustments at no additional cost.
Do you need administrator access to our machines?
Only if you want us to do the deployment hands-on. Many clients prefer to run the commands themselves while we guide, or to deploy through their own tooling using packages we prepare. You decide the level of access — we never ask for credentials we do not need.
Is setup assistance available for home users?
Yes. A single-home-device session is typically 15–25 minutes and covers installation, activation, scan scheduling and the few settings worth changing from default. Select "Home" on the quote form.
